Sealife and Wildlife in Scotland

The Moray Firth Dolphins

The Moray Firth is home to around 130 bottlenose dolphins. This dolphin group is special, as it is the only known resident population of bottlenose dolphins in the North Sea.
There are regular sightings of these dolphins as can be seen by looking at the sightings calendar page of the Friends of the Moray Firth Dolphins.

There are several Sealife, Wildlife and Birdlife watching boat trips available, we would recommend, North 58 Sea Adventures, which uses the powerboat Buchaneer, for an exhilarating tour of the Moray Firth coastline and a fantastic wildlife watching experience.
Sightings vary each trip but may include, common and grey seals, bottlenose dolphins, harbour porpoises, Minke whales as well as Gannets, Puffins, Guillemot and many more birds!
Going along the coast the other way to Buckie, the Gemini Explorer, is the largest wildlife watching boat on the East Coast. Gemini Explorer sails past historic and picturesque fishing villages such as Findochty, Portknockie and Cullen where the eagle eyed can see the remains of Findlater Castle. There is also the famous Bow Fiddle Rock named after its shape. Picture taken from the Gemini Explorer If you prefer a smaller, private hire boat the consider Moray Firth Boat Charter. This boat specialises in private skippered boat trips for small parties of up to 5 guests. It's like having you own boat, the trip is tailored to what you want to do.
Fishing trips also available with tackle supplied.
