Moray Golf Club was founded in 1889 and formally opened on 30th March of that year.
The Old Course was laid out by Old Tom Morris who became a frequent visitor
and played a number of exhibition matches in the early years.
This is considered to be one of the finest links courses in Scotland, it has deep revetted bunkers,
undulating gorse lined fairways and smooth fast greens.
It is a superb test of golf with seven par fours over 400 yards.
Henry Cotton's preference for precision golf can be seen with the shorter but somewhat tighter new course with greens
smaller than the Old but every bit as good, and equally challenging and rewarding.
The 18th of Moray old is one of the finest in Scotland, tightly bunkered on the left and out of bounds on the right,
an accurate drive on this 423 yard hole is a must if the elusive green is to yield a finishing par 4.
Moray Golf Club is truly one of Scotland's gems, a fitting tribute to the artistry of Old Tom Morris and Henry Cotton and a must for golfers visiting the area.
