Royal Tarlair Golf Club

Golf has been played at this site since the dawn of the 20th century, but it was around the 1920's when it was felt that the people of Macduff deserved a higher quality of golf. It was then opened officially as an 18 hole course in 1926.
During its construction the H.R.H the Princess Royal showed such a gracious and sympathetic interest in the Club and the new course that she has readily agreed to its having the word 'Royal' included in its official designation. Since then the course has been known as "Royal Tarlair Golf Club", and takes its place among the select company of courses in the country that have such a privilege.
Royal Tarlair Golf Course is a clifftop parkland course with panoramic views of the Moray Firth coastline. This course has plenty of variety with some memorable holes.
The most famous of these is the par 3 thirteenth, "The Clivet". On the face of it this is an easy 152 yard hole, but anything short of the green is gone forever.
Before you tackle the 'Clivet' you must play the wicked dog-leg 12th. Do not be tempted to go for the green, it will only end in tears. A mid iron off the tee and a short iron to the green is the wise move.
